FAQs
Little Booklings sessions are designed primarily for young children aged around 2–4 years, although some holiday workshops may be suitable for slightly older children. Age guidance will always be provided when booking.
For most Little Booklings sessions, parents or carers stay and take part alongside their child. This helps children feel safe and also gives adults ideas for sharing stories, rhymes and books at home.
For some holiday workshops for older children, parents may not be required to stay. This will always be clearly stated when booking.
Sessions are centred around a high-quality children’s story which is brought to life through expressive storytelling.
Children are encouraged to join in through:
• actions and movement
• repeated sounds and phrases
• rhymes and playful interaction
• simple activities linked to the story
Sessions are relaxed, playful and designed to help children enjoy stories, language and imagination.
Not at all. Young children learn best through movement, exploration and participation. Children are welcome to join in as they feel comfortable — whether that’s sitting, moving, watching or listening. Sessions are designed to be welcoming and pressure-free.
That is completely normal. Many children prefer to watch and observe first before joining in. Sessions are designed to be gentle and inclusive so that children can take part at their own pace.
No special equipment is needed. Just bring your child and be ready to enjoy stories together. Occasionally a session may have a theme (for example an outdoor session or seasonal workshop), and any additional information will be shared when booking.
Siblings are welcome where space allows. Younger babies may attend alongside a booked child, and some workshops may be suitable for siblings of different ages. Please check the session details when booking. Siblings under 1 can attend for free.
Sessions can be booked through the online booking system on the Little Booklings website.
Depending on the event, sessions may be offered as:
• pop-up or taster sessions
• block bookings
• holiday workshops
Details will always be provided on the booking page.
Unfortunately missed sessions cannot usually be refunded, as places are limited and booked in advance. If there is space in another session, we will always do our best to help where possible.
Valid DBS checks, public liability insurance, and safeguarding training are all up to date. Risk assessments are carried out for each venue to help ensure sessions are safe and suitable for young children.
